SUMMARY:Exploring Figurative Abstraction: Figure/Ground
DESCRIPTION:FIGURE/GROUND; DISSOLVING AND DETERMINING BOUNDARIES \nIn this workshop\, we will determine\, dissolve and define the boundaries between the mass of a figure and the space around it. We will work with a variety of materials and methods to tackle the delightfully puzzling concept of figure/ground relationships. \nThese lectures\, given by Michael O’Keefe\, will thoroughly explore various fundamental ideas of visual art. In each lecture\, participants will view many examples of works of art that demonstrate a dynamic use of a particular art idea. Michael will discuss the nature of these concerns and how they are integrated into the compositions of the examples shown. Each topic will be considered as it relates to 2D and 3D art. The goal of these sessions is to help participants develop a more keen and complex understanding of essential art ideas. \n
