SUMMARY:Exploring Figurative Abstraction: The Ambiguous Gesture
DESCRIPTION:THE AMBIGUOUS GESTURE \nIn this workshop\, participants will use past life drawings to create large-scale drawings that contextualize the gesture of the figure(s). Participants will collage sketches to work out a gestural narrative drawing\, before traveling the idea to a larger scale. \nThese lectures\, given by Michael O’Keefe\, will thoroughly explore various fundamental ideas of visual art. In each lecture\, participants will view many examples of works of art that demonstrate a dynamic use of a particular art idea. Michael will discuss the nature of these concerns and how they are integrated into the compositions of the examples shown. Each topic will be considered as it relates to 2D and 3D art. The goal of these sessions is to help participants develop a more keen and complex understanding of essential art ideas. \n
